8 Nights Gems of South Island - Southern Lights + Nature & Adventure (Self Drive)

This itinerary suggests some of the great spots for Southern Lights sightings. Since the Southern Light is based on sunspots and massive bursts of solar winds, you can view it from almost all over New Zealand with the exception of bigger cities (light pollution) OR places with obstruction of large mountain ranges or trees. Do remember to bring your DSLR camera (full frame or APS-C) and tripod along on this trip as you definitely need a long exposure with the camera so that the colours are revealed.
