DAY 1: SYDNEY - WOLLONGONG
Estimated distance from Sydney to Wollongong: 84km / 1 hour

Upon arrival at Sydney International Airport, pick up your car from Hertz counter at the airport. Drive along the Grand Pacific Drive which takes you through spectacular driving scenery of rainforests, coastal villages, rock pools and beaches. You will drive by the Royal National Park (second oldest national park in the world) before arriving at the bustling coastal city of Wollongong!

Wollongong is gaining an international reputation for its excellence in the arts and cultural activities. Home to the biggest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere, The Nan Tien Temple. This is a must see in the Illawarra. Along with other activities such as our Illawarra Museum, City Art Gallery or come in time for one of our many festivals.

Feel the adrenaline pumping by jumping out of a plane at 14,000ft with Skydive the Beach or spend the day at Jamberoo Action Park, NSW largest water theme park or experience a 1500 metre treetop walk through beautiful warm temperate rainforest at Illawarra Fly which culminates in Knights Tower, a spiral tower that rises to a breathtaking 45 metres above the forest floor. Lastly, experience the lively city of Wollongong and enjoy some great shopping, restaurants and cafes, art galleries and more!

DAY 2: WOLLONGONG - BATEMANS BAY
Estimated distance from Wollongong to Batesman Bay: 195km / 2.5 hours

Depart early in the morning and continue your journey south to Batemans Bay!

Once you drive across Batemans Bay Bridge you'll be immediately rewarded with spectacular views of the river, mountains and an ocean dotted with islands.

Take a leisurely Clyde River Boat Cruise with fish and chips for lunch and a stop at historic Nelligen. Visit Birdland to see more than 50 species of native Australian animals, kangaroos, birds and reptiles. Visit the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens with over 2000 species of flora native to the south coast and home to kangaroos, wallabies, bandicoots, possums, echidnas, snakes, lizards, frogs and birds. Visit Mogo Zoo and see more than 200 animals and 42 rare and exotic species including white lions, Sumatran tigers, chimpanzees, giraffes and Brazilian tapirs.

DAY 3: BATEMANS BAY - CANBERRA

The central basin of picturesque Lake Burley Griffin is a hub of activity, especially in the warmer months. Get active with rowing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing and paddle-boating. Marvel at the 81-metre flagpole with an Australian flag bigger than a doubledecker bus at Parliament House, one of the world's most architecturally acclaimed buildings. Enjoy panoramic views of Canberra from the roof, stroll through the beautifully landscaped gardens and enjoy the renowned collection of Australian contemporary art. The grass lawns above Parliament House were deliberately designed to allow people to walk on top of the parliament. Take a free guided tour, held regularly throughout the day. Canberra Glassworks is Australia's only cultural centre wholly dedicated to contemporary glass art which welcomes visitors Wednesday through Sunday. The Glassworks are housed in the old Kingston Powerhouse. Meet artists, see glassmaking as it happens on the hot shop floor, view exhibitions or take a tour. Get up close and personal with glass with 'Off the Street' programs, try out a 20 minute session and make your own glass creation. (Free general admission)

Visit Australian War Memorial, one of the world's great museums with your family and friends for a moving and unforgettable experience. Discover the diverse Australian experiences of war and reflect on their enduring impact. See some of the world's most significant military relics, such as the Lancaster bomber G for George, and experience Over the front: The Great War in the air, a film by renowned director Peter Jackson. DAY 4: CANBERRA

Day 5: CANBERRA - SYDNEY

At National Portrait Gallery, come face to face with the famous, the infamous and the sometimes forgotten icons of Australian history, from the distant past to the absolute present. Bushrangers and judges sit side by side, while prime ministers mingle with pop stars. Make your way back to Sydney on a 3-hr car journey.
