** ITINERARY (This is a suggested itinerary and the sequence can be changed as per your requirements) **

On arrival, meet and greet by hotel representative for your transfers to the hotel (Approx 20mins). Check in and rest for the day. After dinner, you might want to join the other guests at the bonfire in front of the Tibetan Residence.

Wake up for a brisk morning hike to the hills behind Hidden Valley with the resort's resident ground keep. A villager of Bisong and in his sixties, he knows the mountains like the back of his hand. Discover the wild fauna and flora in the hills, stop and forage for bamboo shoots, Tibetan mushrooms and vegetables for Chef Agar to cook for you! Don’t worry that you will need to lug all your drinks and snacks as it will be all managed by the resort ponies that will come along!

Following that, you will visit Dongzhulin Garden and Monastery (Admission fee payable direct) - a perfect opportunity to learn more about the Buddhist culture, as well as delve into the history of Tibetan Buddhism. Inside, you can offer a prayer to the different Buddha within the monastery. Donate any amount and you may receive Buddhist prayer beads (worn round the wrists) as well as a light knock on the head, a form of blessing by the Tibetan monk.
This can be replaced with a visit to the Shangri-la old town. A collection of quaint cobblestoned streets and traditional Tibetan buildings. Stroll through the streets and browse for traditional clothing and jewellery. Pop into a cafe for snacks and yak butter tea. On the hill towers the world's second-largest prayer wheels. Here, you can spin the wheel and send your prayers to the gods. Every evening, in the square below the wheel, you can join the locals in the warmth of traditional Tibetan line dancing.

After breakfast, embark on your day trip to the charming village of Benzilan. Enroute, you will pass by the border of Sichuan. Here you can sense the enormity of the mountains that surround Benzilan, northwest of Shangri-la. You will also see the U-shaped bend of Jing Sha (Golden Sands River), a thin strip of river winding through steep mountains – a gorgeous sight to behold. You can stop to take some scenic photos.

In Benzilan, you can visit Dongzhulin Monastery.* This charming ancient monastery clings precariously along a steep mountain ridge and contains many incredible Tibetan Buddhism artefacts, thangkas, and stupas. Typically less crowded than Ganden Sumtseling (Little Potala) Monastery, it is home to about 300 monks.

For lunch our Resident Chef has prepared picnic baskets with sandwiches and fruits which we brought along, and you can enjoy it at a scenic spot or at a restaurant overlooking spectacular mountains.

If time and energy permit, drive to Nixi Village, known for its beautiful black pottery and amazing workmanship. The traditional pottery-making technique that has lasted for thousands of years is still employed by the locals. You will have the option to join a pottery master's workshop and make your own Tibetan black clay ware.**

*Not included: Entrance fee to Dongzhulin Monastery (RMB30 per person)
**Not included: Pottery workshop fee (RMB50 per person) - Advance booking is required.

After a early breakfast, you will head out for Napahai Natural Lake Reserve. The reserve is 3,270m above sea level and covers 660 square kilometers. It is about 8km northwest of Shangri-La town in Yunnan Province. It is both an ideal field for herdsmen and a paradise for many species of birds. This is, in the true sense, a seasonal lake. When summer comes, snow on the adjacent mountains melts and flows down into about ten rivers forming a vast lake. In the dry season, Napahai becomes a boundless green grassland - the best time for herding sheep cattle. Every September the lake again turns into a temporary habitat for migratory birds, such as bar-headed geese, wild ducks and black-necked cranes which is one of the 12 rarest bird species in the world. During this period, the lake becomes an ideal place for ornithologists from around the world!

Following that, we will bring you to one of the wet markets where it is probably the best place to observe the local cultures. Also a great opportunity to get some of fresh produce for your friends and family back home! Before we head back to the resort, we will stop by at a Tibetan house where you can have an authentic Tibetan's afternoon tea!

This morning, you might want to have a relaxing morning in the resort before heading off to the airport after lunch.
